Eating Cornish pasties in Polperro

Picturesque, movie-like, idyllic. The ubiquity of pasty shops resembles that of Pret-a-Manger in London and the most aggressive sign around is ‘no seagulls allowed’. That’s Polperro.

It’s a very relaxing place, maybe a little too sleepy; perfect for a short retreat, though. There’s a soothing feeling of tranquility, even though there are quite a few tourists around. No one is rushing and the locals chill on their balconies and patios. It’s all refreshing to someone used to the constant noise of London. It’s energising.

We only spent an afternoon in Polperro, but it was a blissful break. A stroll down its narrow streets and a bacon&cheese pasty eaten on a bench by the water made for a lovely afternoon.
